PM returns home curtailing S’pore visit
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home on Tuesday afternoon, cutting short her official visit to Singapore following a tragic US-Bangla plane crash in Nepal on Monday.
“The premier will reach Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 5:50 pm,” a press release from the Prime Minister's Office said.
Hasina, who was scheduled to return home on Wednesday afternoon, curtailed her tour by a day to stand beside the families of the victims of the plane crash at Trivubhan International Airport in Kathmandu on Monday afternoon.
During her visit to Singapore, she held official talks with Singapore Premier Lee Hsien Loong and paid a courtesy call on Singapore President Halimah Yacob, reports BSS.
The premier also attended a lunch hosted in her honour by Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien and joined Singapore-Bangladesh Business Forum and Business Roundtable at Shangri-La Hotel as the chief guest.
She visited the Port of Singapore, one of the busiest commercial ports of the world. She also visited the National Orchid Garden of Singapore Botanic Garden, a UNESCO World Heritage, and unveiled an orchid named after her.
